Course Description

Our SQA-accredited Street Works course trains candidates against the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) and health and safety practices, guidance, and regulations for operatives working on roadways and highways.

The course covers all operative units as detailed under Course Aims below.

Course Aims

Our 5-day course covers 8 modules for operatives as follows:

• (LA) Location & Avoidance of Underground Apparatus
• (O1) Signing, Lighting & Guarding
• (O2) Excavation in the Highway
• (O3) Reinstatement and Compaction of Backfill Materials
• (O4) Reinstatement of Sub-base and Road base in Non-Bituminous Materials
• (O5) Reinstatement in Cold-lay Bituminous Material
• (O8) Reinstatement of Modular Surfaces and Concrete Footways

Who Should Attend?

This course is for any person whose job involves the physical works on roads/highways.

The course is also suitable for any candidate who has a SWQR registration card that has expired for more than 5 years.
